Original Tchaikovsky
[edit]One other original version he championed was Tchaikovsky's 1st Piano Concerto. This version does not have the crashing piano chords in the introduction, but instead has weak, pathetic, insipid arpeggios. I had the good fortune to see Frager perfoming this, in the Brisbane City Hall of all places, in the early 70s or late 60s. While I was glad to hear the piece as Tchaikovsky originally conceived it, I'm very glad that he beefed up the intro to the version we know today; so it seems that Nikolai Rubinstein did us all a service. We should probably say something about this work. I don't know if Frager ever recorded it. -- JackofOz (talk) 14:14, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
